What brought you to RE!NSTITUTE?

It feels like every professional experience I have ever had brought and prepared me for where I am today! From setting up a Global Health organization in Morocco, which strengthened my entrepreneurial skills, to leading peer-to-peer learning exchanges in India and collaboratives in South Korea, to supporting Universal Health Coverage through the Joint Learning Network. I have worked in over 10 countries, which has given me the adaptability and resilience to work in culturally diverse contexts and satisfy my eternal curiosity while also searching for locally-driven development and innovation. What truly brought me to RE!NSTITUTE was feeling frustrated at the gap between ambition and action, between ideas and impact in social change efforts. RE!NSTITUTE’s 100-Day Challenges gave me the bridge over that gap.

What’s your current role?

I am RE!NSTITUTE’s Chief Impact Officer. I am here to support the organization’s growth - expanding the breadth and depth of our impact and driving the change we want to see and be in the world. I love it!

Since joining RE!NSTITUTE I have worked with our Government Accelerator program in UAE, People Powered Results in the UK, and trainings for the UN’s International Labor Organization. But most importantly, 12 years ago, I wrote my Master’s thesis on Gender Violence on the U.S.-Mexico border and found myself a decade later starting our justice venture in Latin America, directly addressing how domestic violence can be eradicated. I feel as passionate now about people-powered innovation and change as I did as a fiery college student.

What do you love about your role and RE!NSTITUTE?

Two things - the first is the work we do. There is nothing like seeing communities we work with across the world own their challenges and come up with and implement transformative solutions. From justice workers in Mexico reimagining how gender violence is addressed to cities across the US radically shifting how they house people.  The second is our team of committed, brilliant and kind individuals. I have never worked in or seen an organization that walks the talk the way this one does.

Where will we find you in your free time?

Either hiking in the mountains, doing yoga, or at a delicious dinner with friends and my partner, with mezcal in hand.
