At the end of May, four communities in California launched 100-Day Challenges as part of Governor Gavin Newsom’s 100-Day Challenge Initiative for California Cities and Counties to Fight Homelessness - with a cohort focus of permanently housing people, mainly seniors, exiting Project Roomkey.
40 Communities Have Completed 100-Day Challenges on Youth Homelessness!
RE!NSTITUTE is excited to share that as of this month, we have had the pleasure to work with 40 communities on 100-Day Challenges focused on preventing and ending Youth and Young Adult Homelessness. This milestone has led to these 40 communities safely and stably housing 3,633 youth and young adults over the course of their collective 100 days!
Amidst COVID-19, HUD Cohort 5 Completes Their 100-Day Challenge on Youth Homelessness
In February of 2020, the 5th HUD Cohort to accept a 100-Day Challenge to prevent and end youth homelessness had their Launch Workshop in Charleston, South Carolina. The communities to participate in the Challenge included: (1) Central Alabama, (2) Charleston, South Carolina, (3) Jacksonville, Florida, (4) Monroe County, Florida, and (5) North Central, West Virginia.

Four communities from California came together to form the 6th HUD Cohort to launch 100-Day Challenges to prevent and end youth homelessness.
100-Day Challenges on Project Roomkey Launched
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, 4 communities came together (virtually) to launch the first set of 100-Day Challenges of this initiative. The focus of these Challenges is to ensure that those who are housed as a result of Project Room key exit the program into safe and stable housing.

Four communities all came together for the very first time in Traverse City, Michigan to share their results, celebrate their achievements, and learn from one another’s experiences. Over the course of their Challenge, a collective 158 youth and young adults were safely and stably housed.

In addition to launching 2 more cohorts in the movement to prevent and end youth homelessness, we also launched several other projects and some additions to our program. SOHUD Youth Homelessness 100-Day Challenge Sustainability
